Stop Press 29/10/2019: There is major unrest in Chile and it is being linked to the climate conference – This is devastating news and many people have been killed in Chile this month and our thoughts go out to our team in Chile and others affected by this awful turn of events

Our aim this time at COP25 -2 tonnes of carbon per person by 2022 and zero by 2025- Carbon Rationing- per person on the planet. No exceptions, no trading, no cheating, no extras for large corporates, polluters, gas guzzlers etc

Update Blog from the COP25 in Madrid: The latest news is that Nancy Pelosi from the USA Senate will be coming to COP this time in a bid to restart the input from the USA which is symbolically very hopeful. The atmosphere is very positive at COP at the moment, with a new government and a new and enthusiastic Minister in Spain heading up proceedings. She argues the Spain with its sunshine should be far further along the road to renewables than it is currently due to its progress being stiffled by the previous government and she is anxious to make up for lost time.

Dont miss our GEITV station with many videos of climate experts and climate strikers and protesters as well as national experts from all over the world and country delegates to the United Nations as well as the worlds most influential shakers and movers. https://vimeo.com/345685818 and https://vimeo.com/345681045 our GEI climate speakers and also climate experts from all over the world https://vimeo.com/345677875 and our climate experts explaining about food and farming – (Sudan) our official Climate Change Side Events at the UNFCCC Headquarters in Bonn this year https://vimeo.com/345244100

There are many younger people at the COP indicative of serious interest by young people about their future which is a great thing. This COP will be concerned with a) finalising the Paris Rule Book -administrative and technical work b) realising the £1bn that was promised at Paris and Bonn and Katowice but never materialised. c) the next round of country promises to reduce carbon -called INDCs Nationally Determined Contributions which are stronger than the Paris Promises as the world is getting much hotter and like a human body- its designed for a certain temperature and it gets a fever if the temperature is too high and it can be fatal if the body overheats- the planet is the same. These new enhanced INDCs are being gathered so as to create pledges for Glasgow COP26 next year. d) The technical aspects of how to achieve more climate change is being debated at the COP at the moment by delegates who have already arrived.

e) The huge issue of equality and equity, and who pays for the awful loss and damage already starting to hit all countries but impacting the poorer ones more is being debated at the moment at COP. f) Much sharing of climate dangers and experiences is going on at the COP at the moment. There are many useful sessions including one discussing what happens if we miss the targets. g) the world is currently not managing to even pledge to keep to 2 degrees of warming and is currently 1.8 degrees warmer then pre-industrial levels (NASA website -please check the specifics of the planets vital signs daily) and we have 412 parts per million of carbon equivalent at the moment rising all the time and a situation in general not seen for 2-3 milion years when the planet was much warmer- with much higher sea levels. So a most unwise and dangerous situation. The latest news is that the Greenland ice sheet is melting faster than expected in new and unexpected ways.

The advent of disease, migration, crop failures, complete lack of water in some areas, droughts, water shortages, rivers drying up and landslides, mudslides, typhoon, hurricanes, storms, are all becoming more frequent as precipitation changes as the air is warmer and can carry more moisture. Whole countries, islands, cities and regions are becoming more prone to flooding and currently floods are seriously affecting Venice and Bangladesh and East Africa. Fires are causing catastrophe in Australia, which half the country in actual danger. So if our House is on fire- lets not let it burn down -instead:
OUR HOUSE IS ON FIRE- LETS PUT OUT THE FLAMES TOGETHER

The Spain story of hosting COP25
https://www.climatechangenews.com/2018/11/12/can-teresa-ribera-transform-spain-green-champion/ Can Teresa Ribera transform Spain into a green champion? Hope for COP and Spain with the Green New Deal and improvement on pledges and action after the previous government blocked progress.
The Story of Madrid COP25 Ambitions– Can it be transformed from hot air and bribes to less developed countries – because 1 billion – the same 1 billion keeps being promised but never comes. No infrastructure projects are coming. So now we have 10 years to save the planet and its climate- its time for some action. People everywhere are protesting and there seems to be an oil coup globally of people benefiting from keeping using oil and gas. Ordinary people are entirely ready to make the switch to a just transition but due to system intransigence and vast amounts of money needed to stand for election – only those who are rich and powerful can stand anywhere to convince people as the media is all owned by the rich and powerful who want to keep the status quo. We need ordinary people in charge of the transition. Voters MUST begin to understand when they are being manipulated as if they keep voting for things to stay as they are – then they will keep being as they are until climate change sinks most of the worlds cities and peoples beneath the waves. It really is time for some change. But this change – this challenge needs social justice- it wont work otherwise. The environment, the worlds resources are all for sharing together.

Our aim is to drive higher faster ambition to halt runaway climate change within 5 years- we have already reached many tipping points and we need climate action now-we cant wait thirty years. We believe everyone should move towards a 2 tonnes of carbon equivalent lifestyle by 2022 and a zero carbon lifestyle by 2025 but to do that we need the governments of the world to stop investing in carbon fossil fuels and petrol and start to move all infrastructure to renewables and local facilities. The move to internet shopping is actually making things worse, the move to ever larger servers is also making things worse, the move towards short break cheap holiday flights is making things worse. Pension funds, banks, infrastructure funders must open their books, admit they are propping up climate change and divest immediately.

WE REALLY NEED NATURE TO BOUNCE BACK AND PROTECT US -NOTHING ELSE WILL
No one should be clearing any trees at all. The rainforests and other forests must be designated investment areas as that is the new true gold of the planet and they must no longer be plundered and other species must be respected and not sent all over the world for slaughter. Young people and people with the future in mind are moving towards vegetarian and vegan and this is defInately the future of humanity- dont get left behind- start the switch now. Most animals and creatures are sentient and must now be treated as such. A horrid combination of climate change and greed is wrecking the planet and its creatures. It is causing unprecedented global criminality and oppressive regimes and young people are in distress everywhere as their futures get ripped off by greedy investors and criminals, traffickers, slavers, huge corporates and currency shorters. It is time to stop this – it is time to educate the public about history, about power and about massive corruption.

POWER AND THE LAW TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE NOT RIP THEM OFF
The media is in the hands of the same group. The internet is also run for massive global greed. 10 of the richest people in the world are white men mostly feeding off the internet and related services, mostly providing substandard services ripping off workers on low pay and zero hours contracts. This is all related. Pollution, plastics, mining fossil fuels, they all benefit a very very few privileged people at the expense of everyone else. It is time to stop this and ensure the public really understands how this mess is all connected. They can make very very different buying and consumption decisions but they need the information. There needs to be a global court where massive lies and corruption bigger than individual governments can be tried and where sanctions of the perpetrators can be made.

Climate change is a crime and the perpetrators are committing arson amongst other crimes. Ironically last year Australia for example ( by no means the worst) won dinosaur of the week at COP24 Katowice for not cleaning up its act and this year it saw huge fires threatening half the continent. The people who loose out when we dont make changes are quite simply ourselves. What goes around comes around. Its time to change for our own benefit even if people are too selfish to do it for the benefit of others.

ORDINARY PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER TO SORT THIS MESS OUT– GOVERNMENTS DOING THEIR JOBS NOT LINING THEIR OWN POCKETS
But the planet is for sharing, caring and supporting each other. We cant exist on our own – we are a social species. We need more investment in green technologies. It is too late for trading in carbon – now we need to use economics tools, lifestyle changes, incentives, education, regulations, taxation, technology transfer and green tech, transformation, transition, a golden age of green investment, local, regional and individual help to move forward and entire government policies scrutinized for their ability to provide a fast effective and fair transformation and jobs and consumption and buying changes. Green Transport, green buildings, green food, green farming, all these need to be supported. Not by agribusiness but existing smaller businesses and community groups. Those with an awful track record should NOT receive the new subsidies for transformation. There should be no grandfathering, money should go to new groups invested in their communities.

CONSUMER POWER, ENHANCE VOTING POWER- OFFER BETTER GOVERNMENT CANDIDATES -STOPPING CLIMATE CHANGE – ENDING HIGH MASS CONSUMPTION – ITS GOING OUT OF FASHION
Every item sold should display its embedded carbon and footprint as well as its social justice footprint. No more slave made products, no more trafficking. Migration is usually the brightest in a home community at the mercy of global criminals and traffickers. It is most often caused by the encroachment of climate change, so everyone should help as humans are going to have to all move in the near future as huge swathes of land go under water. This will affect people from Africa, Bangladesh, The Netherlands, Cheshire and many many more and most of the worlds cities and if flooding doesnt cause it -it is draught, fire, lack of water and diseases spreading. Human civilisations are product of climate change 10,000 years ago – we are ill equiped for a different climate range. Animals and insects and plants are all moving towards the polar regions as the world heats up – we will need to do that too. Start your own transformation now and get your government and powerful national lobbies to move now towards a new future.
What do we want? Climate Action, when do we want it ? We want it Now

A combination of climate change, Venice sinking- massive cruise ships forcing of unfortunate dredging the protective harbour and inlet waterways and corruption in the face of funds to try to mitigate it- means Venice may not be able to with stand the waves. Greed over beauty and resilience for future generations means one of humanities loveliest treasures may not last.
